The Film & Poets Showcase

This was truly a magical event, Cinema Paradiso and FtLaudiGras.com hosted The Film & Poets Showcase last night. Local artist such as Just Lashawn, Sheba, Emonie Luv and the internationally acclaimed Bill Flakes performed at a level rarely seen at Broward venues. This was the sign that our area is on the verge of being a major player on the poetry scene. The final piece of the night's event was the showing of the 1974 documentary " Soul Power". This film was the concert that took place prior to the Ali vs Foreman " Rumble In The Jungle " championship fight. It featured the biggest artist of the time such as B.B. King, The Spinners, James Brown, Celia Cruz, Bill Withers and a host of others. Everyone was left eagerly awaiting the next event.

FtLaudiGras.com presents The Film & Poets Showcase

Coming October 1st, 2009 at Fort Lauderdale's Cinema Paradiso, FtLaudiGras.com's The Film & Poets Showcase. This event will look focus in on and help promote Broward's home grown talents in the areas of film making and poetry. This is the 1st of what will become a regular monthly event to re-introduce our area to these hugely popular art forms. Jet Runway Cafe Event

Last night's event at the Jet Runway Cafe inside Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport was one that will be talked about for quite some time. The food, the models, the music were all done with a certain style and sophistication rarely seen at these kinds of events. The music was provided by local group City of God and as usual the set was outstanding, the bikini fashion show was one that I was particularly interested in and it did not disappoint. From the exotic cars, boats, jets, planes and helicopters this event had it all. Fort Lauderdale I can honestly say offers as much variety and diversity as any major city in the world.

The fire dancers, the crowd, the food & the music were all exceptional. this event is something everyone would look forward to doing again if they were to experience it once. The event was hosted by P.O.D Entertainment and really focused on acknowledging Broward has a first class destination.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the new Miramar Cultural Center, after an extensive tour of the facility I could not help but feel proud of what Broward County has developed into. The city of Miramar has outdone itself in its attempt to show the world who and what we are. In addition to the cultural center that offers multiple banquet halls, a botanical garden, an art gallery, a performance plaza and art/education studios there is also a beautiful new city hall. If I were you I would make this venue a part of my regular entertainment and cultural routine.
